Generation of electricity
The generation of backup electricity depends on the existing infrastructure.
- CHP (combined heat and power plant)
If the building complex accommodates a CHP plant, this plant can be used to supply backup electricity.
CHP plants, as opposed to diesel-engines with alternator operate all year long and therefore do not require regular test runs. Furthermore, there are no expenses for stand-by mode.
- Backup electricity diesel-engines
If the building complex does not accommodate a CHP plant, or the CHP plant does not have enough output, diesel-engines can be used to provide additional power.
