Currently work is taking place on a gigantic urbanisation project at Ban de Gasperich. A completely new district including housing, offices, shops and a large park is being built, spanning 80 hectares.
For this new district and for the existing Cloche d’Or industrial estate, environment-friendly heat supply is to be provided. The entire area will be powered by a long-distance distribution network with the residual heat from the SIDOR waste incineration facility in Leudelange. In addition to electrical energy production, SIDOR will also use the existing residual heat. 80 to 85% of Ban de Gasperich heating demand will be supplied from Leudelange.
To cover the maximum loads and to guarantee heat supply in the event of a breakdown at SIDOR, a backup heating plant named ‘ECCO’ will be built in Cloche d’Or. LuxEnergie will be in charge of the planning, funding and construction of the technical installation for this plant and will operate it thereafter.
